A friend recently went out to Nanaimo to have his bare left arm sleeved by the inimitiable Steve Moore. Based on the myth of Matsya, he had only sent Steve some reference material, and had seen nothing else. Until he showed up at his studio. To say that he had gone way over expectations is an understatement. And what was equally impressive was that he had drawn out the complete tattoo, right on the tracing that he had made of his arm. No preliminary sketches, no work up. Started drawing on the map of his arm, and did it in one go. He’s so adept that he knows exactly where each element should go. Flawless.
The walls were covered in sleeves and backpieces and body suits that he has done for other people. To say that he is a master artist is an understatement. Truly awesome work.
No photos of the sleeve. 11 hours in two days. Rather scabby and icky at the moment.
But he did bring me back a shirt, Steve’s latest design.
