While many of the books on canoes and kayaks I’ve been reading lately have been about building them or going on trips in them, this deals with a deeper cultural exploration of them. How much of Canadian identity has been shaped since ancient times by this versatile craft. I enjoyed this more scholarly interpretation of crafts that have brought me much joy in my life.
