The artists I’ve been really impressed by the last few years seem to be into a really broad range of stuff and their exposure to this eclectic mix of styles has been percolated down into something really extraordinary. Jazzanova is a perfect example of this. I suppose the name gives some inkling of where they’re coming from, but it goes so much further than that. Funk, soul, jazz, electronica, orchestral, and a lot more – it’s all there, and it’s done very well. Sophisticated stuff. The album this is taken from, In Between, is excellent.
