S.o.t.D. - Kinetic (Tom Middleton 2008 Remix) – Golden Girls

Kinetic (Tom Middleton 2008 Remix) – Golden Girls

Classic early 90’s track, reworked by the always fantastic Tom Middleton. Not entirely sure what the history of this song is. Originally by The Pied Piper, it was then remixed by Orbital....not sure beyond that. But this is just fantastic.

S.o.t.D. - Links – The Chameleon

Links – The Chameleon

One of the many guises of Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton – aka Global Communication, aka Reload, aka Jedi Knights, aka Secret Ingredients...and many others.

That “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it” from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been used in at least three or four other tracks I know of.

S.o.t.D. - Return to Atlantis – Tom Middleton

Return to Atlantis – Tom Middleton

Sounds like he has sampled some of the strings from a 60s era movie, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out which. Regardless, it’s an atmospheric, languid tune that evokes images of lounging on a deck chair in the French Riviera after successfully cracking the safe and stealing the diamonds from a Bulgarian arms dealer the night before.

S.o.t.D. - New York (Tom Middleton Remix) – Paloma Faith

New York (Tom Middleton Remix) – Paloma Faith

While I have some misgivings about the mans choice in headwear, I love Tom Middleton.

This remix sounds nothing like the original, which is charming in its own way, but being the guy I am, I prefer the stonking 4 on the floor barnstormer that he has turned it into rather than the torch song of the original.

S.o.t.D. - The Sun Rising (Tom’s Drum & Bass mix by Global Communication) – The Beloved

The Sun Rising (Tom’s Drum & Bass mix by Global Communication) – The Beloved

The original, with its madrigal vocal samples from the sublime A Feather On The Breath of God: Sequences and Hymns by the Abbess Hildegard of Bingen, was good, but Mr. Middleton’s magic touch makes it exponentially better.

(Hildegard of Bingen is a fascinating historical character by the way.)

S.o.t.D. - Simplesmente (Tom Middleton Cosmos Mix) – Bebel Gilberto

Combine the great voice of Bebel Gilberto, with the production magic of Tom Middleton (of Global Communications) and you get this smooth, mesmerizing tune.
