I was at first surprised to hear that Tom Jones covered this Wolfgang Press song. They also wrote a track just for him. Then I found out he had also done something with New Model Army. This was an artist I had never given any thought to, and if I had, it seemed like he was a corny Vegas crooner. But finding out that he was working with these two acts gave me a whole new appreciation for him.

Found some old, old stuff the other day in the bottom of a film box. Had a jacket and painted the cover to The Legendary Wolfgang Press and Other Tall Tales on it. Something to do, and I was and still am a big fan of Wolfgang Press. Got rid of the jacket many years ago, but did cut the painted part out, stuck it in a film box, it got covered in print job samples, and more or less forgotten about.

Tough one to call, but I think Wolfgang Press is indeed my favourite 4AD act, and while it’s also very tough to call which song of theirs I love the most, this is one of the top three. Hugely underrated band.

Still love this band as much now as I did when I first got into them 25+ years ago. One of the bands that made 4AD so fantastic back in the 80s. The female vocals are by the inimitable Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins fame.
