I’m not really into swords, but I do find metallurgy and bladesmithing fascinating. I’ve posted a Nova documentary before on katanas, Secrets of the Samurai Sword, that is equally watchable.

Norse Shipbuilding

I’ve become increasingly interested in how the Norse built their ships. Just wooden ship building in general. I guess building a kayak has whetted my appetite for building bigger wooden vessels. A silly notion to spend any time dreaming about maybe, but still a fascinating subject to study.

Having read a rather lengthy article recently about what amazing vessels the ships of the Norsemen were, and wondering what would be involved in building one today, I was thrilled to come across this article.
